jobless, and have entirely too much time on my hands, I made a banner to link to the new US website. Ok granted I totally chopped, cropped, and resized the top of the homepage but hey, it's my first banner and I'm totally proud I even managed this little bit of l337 choppin' croppin' linkin' skillz!

I'm waiting for my sister to scan the letter and then I'll edit this entry and post the scan so that you guys can read the text. Long story short, Tokio Hotel is now on Barnes & Nobles' radar and I don't mean someone flunky read my letter, I mean the freakin' Marketing person wrote me back and told me what was going on. My sister read the letter to me over the phone and I was pretty much squealing. It's not totally huge news or anything but it is news. They know about Tokio Hotel, Scream (I think) is available a few B&N stores and they'll be watching those sales very closely. Whatev. The important part is that if I'm guessing correctly about corporate people, they won't be watching only sales of Scream, but they'll also be keeping tabs on Tokio Hotel in general. At the very least, they're familiar with the band's name and music now.

Keep watching this space for a scan of the letter! XD ETA (There is a reason why we asked for Zimmer instead of Scream. In this instance, it wasn't know beforehand that some B&N stores actually are carrying Scream.):

This shit's x-posted ALL over our street team's myspace pages. Oh well, not everyone has myspace so whatev. Sorry for anyone who's getting this for about the eighth gazillionth time; you can skip both listings if you'd like because if you're on our friends page(s), you've gotten both of these already. *clears throat* Without further ado:

Project! Get ur project here! )

This is totally unrelated but before I get started, I gotta give a shout out to the New Hampshire Street Team, the Tokio Hotel Does America Street Team, and Hannah from Georgia, all three of whom are on myspace. They did some kick ass work recently and I'm totes impressed! Remind me to congratulate them on the THDA blog. ::is forgetful::

Now down to business. I x-posted this all over the place on our myspace street team pages, but there are people on LJ who aren't on myspace so this is for all you LJ peeps.

Ok, so I went out today and harrassed interrogated talked to the managers at the FYE and Borders downtown and here's the skinny: We need to continue seeking out store managers but we're also going to add a component to our plan of attack.

Shhh, top secret plan under the cut! )

Say what?

Apparently I've been a Tokio Hotel fan for longer than I thought. I thought it was February when I saw the WTF, Inc. post that made me love Bill first and the band shortly thereafter. Nope. After hunting on and off for a month or two for the original post and not being able to find it to save to memories, I discovered that I was looking in the wrong months (Feb. and Jan.)!

December 24th. I fell in love with Tokio Hotel fucking DECEMBER 24TH, NOT FEBRUARY. OMG no wonder it felt like I'd been a fan for longer than four to five months: I have been.

I just passed my six month anniversary then. Holy shit.

(Thanks to TokioChica for pointing this out)

You can enter a wild card selection on the VH1 Top 20 video countdown. We've picked Monsoon. All you have to do is go to the wild card box located below the video list type in the artist (Tokio Hotel) and the video (Monsoon), then drag your selection over to the grid and place it in the #1 spot and viola! Use the link below.

Vote for Tokio Hotel!

Please pass this along, post in as many places as possible and let's see how many wild card votes we can rummage up!

ETA: Just mailed a request to head up the official Street Team. We'll continue as unofficial for now like we've been doing and should the time come to alter our plans, we will. For the moment, we'll keep moving! :-) More publicity can't hurt, yeah? Letters were sent to both CA and NY.

We're workin' on it NOW. I got tired of waiting for something to get going, so bull by the horns and all that. We'll figure out graphics tomorrow but we have the basic team structure down. We'll do it by regions, with each region receiving it's own myspace page and then one massive LJ page for the entirety of the US effort. We might need LJ's for each region now that I think about it but whatever. We'll get to that when we get to it.

This is going to have to be massive because this country's so freakin' ginormous.

ETA2: Got a logo and the myspace pages are coming soon. :-)

I went up to the info desk at the big FYE on 15th and Chestnut (I think that's right- across from The Ritz) and got to chatting with the guy about carrying more imports and getting Tokio Hotel cds into the store. I told him all about the band and how popular they are in Europe, how they're moving into the UK, and also the rumour that they're about to break into the US. I let him now that TH has A LOT of fans here in the US and we'd like it if it wasn't so hard for us to buy stuff by the guys.

Posted by someone on TH Fanclub; I SO hope this is true. I'll just hope and pray that it is. I guess we'll see but the source seems pretty legit, so I'm going to let myself get a little excited while holding my breath.

I was telling her all the good news coming out of France, the UK, and now Mexico (that magazine article) and I mentioned again about wanting TH to come to the US. She said:

Well it would be cool. I know you'd find away to (I'd go willingingly) drag me to see them.

I LOVE MY SISTER LIKE WHOA.

ETA: She just flat out SAID it about 20 minutes ago. I quote,

"Hey Carole... I admit it. I LIKE Tokio Hotel. Not as much as you do, but I like them."

This is a milestone, people. You have NO idea. Officially now, ONE MORE TOKIO HOTEL FAN IN PHILADELPHIA!

x-posted to the Cult and TH Fanclub. Five hearts is tops, one heart is "just quit now and go home while you're ahead."

By Your Side is just beautiful. Rating:

<3 <3 <3 <3 <3 / <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Don't Jump sounds way less awkward now that I have more than 30 seconds to listen to. I love how he sings, "the eyes of the city are counting the tears falling down." Ah damnit. I really like this song now that I'm listening to it a second time. That "eyes of the city" line won me over. Rating:

<3 <3 <3 <3 / <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Final Day is really good too, even though Der Letzte Tag isn't one of my favorites, but his lisp is pretty bad on it and I can barely understand half of what he says. Definitely needs to work on his annunciation. Rating:

<3 <3 <3 / <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

I can't say much about On The Edge because I don't even like that song much in German; sounds too much like Nirvana. NO RATING

I was totes gonna post something serious and mushy, but my sister just told me the most...unbelievable... story ever. She and her friend Brian from work were sitting around today and Brian just randomly starts singing Tokio Hotel's version of Instant Karma. It WAS NOT John Lennon's version. My sister of course loves TH's version of Instant Karma so she freaks not only because Brian's singing a song that she loves and instantly recognizes, but also because it's a TOKIO HOTEL song and she and I both figure NO ONE has heard a damn thing by Tokio Hotel.

Not so, says Brian. He can't remember where he's heard the song and he has no clue who sings it, but his friends spin a lot of different stuff from all over the globe and he thinks he heard it in one of the clubs that one of his friends works at. I want to know what club this is and get my ass over there! This makes perfect sense that a DJ on the up-and-up would know what's hot outside of the US and would mix it as a dance tune.

People, this is kinda HUGE. TH is most likely getting some play in at least ONE club in Philadelphia.

*massive amounts of cursing ahead*

Silly little lovable bastards Tokio Hotel, I just ate up valuable (and scarce) hard disk space by reinstalling my printer so that I could finally print out this damn letter, since the printer at work decided to die. Not only that, but I just spent $65 worth of new ink cartridges and paper on you ungrateful little fucktards sweet, adorable boys. All so I can finally print this motherfucking letter and fucking send the bitch out.

Someone who matters better FUCKING READ THIS GODDAMN LETTER WHEN IT GETS TO GERMANY. Ugh. The things you make me do, Bill. The things you make me do... :-(

In a fit of pure insanity borne of frustration, I wrote on the envelope: Attn: Tokio Hotel. Let's put a little pressure on them too. Why just stick to the record company when the artists have some sway? I blame my fowl mood on the fact that I had to spend $65 on ink cartridges just for one letter and a photo. AND today I'm again convinced that we're on the band's shitlist for whatever reason. Please excuse the shitty picture quality: I was taking photos with my phone.

*is very sad*

The guys mentioned that they'll always love their German fans the most.

I'm glad they'll always love their German fans the most because you should never forget how and where you got your start and who gave you your first break. I don't know if I'm saying that in all honesty or if I'm being really fucking sarcastic. :-(

Ok, ok. I know I still haven't sent this off yet, but it still needed some work. Thanks to Keyana and hyper_tala for both their encouragment, suggestions, and proofreading. It think this is about as good as it's going to get, so I'll print when I get to work tomorrow (need a new cartridge for my home printer), send it off, and see what happens.

You know how my teammates at work were making fun of the guys? Well, today they demanded that I let them listen to Tokio Hotel (we have little speakers that we plug into our mp3 players so that everyone can listen to music). I didn't want them to let them listen because I was really afraid that my teammates would make fun of the guys even worse.

Hell just froze over because my team's given TH a seal of approval! After each song, I'm like, "Should I stop now?" or "Ok, one more and then I'll unplug the speakers." and they're were like, "That's all you've got?! No, keep it comin'! Play more." My one teammate said that she still thinks the band looks creepy, but she's pleasantly surprised. They wanted to hear the English songs too.

Tokio Hotel can make it in America peeps. I KNOW that now. I'm certain of it.

Also posted to the thfanclub forum:

Here it is. My really fucking pathetic letter in German. It's sad. Very, very sad. My German totes sucks, but I swear I tried my best! I'm going to leave ALL of my grammatical mistakes in that way they know that I put a ton of effort into writing the letter and I'm not into Tokio Hotel because I came from Germany or something. I'm a homegrown American and I just love the band all on my own and want to show that I give a shit about what happens to them just as much as any of their European fans. I want the company to know this. Follow the cut and tell me if I should add anything to the letter.

Completely unrelated but I must share with someone, I do believe Tokio Hotel has one more American fan! A friend of mine made the mistake of being curious about this band that I keep going on about and she asked me what kind of music do they play and what are their lyrics like. I knew I could nab her when she saw a couple of pictures of Bill and instead of being like, "OMG, THAT'S A GUY?! EEEEWWWW LOLZ" she just repeatedly remarked upon how pretty he is and that she was jealous of his beauty right along with the rest of us.

Ok, so I figured I should compile all of the information that I have so far. There really isn't anywhere else that it's gathered in one location and I'll feel dumb posting it on one of the other comms. If anyone else wants to post this stuff elswhere, feel free. Island Records was/is(?) supposed to be in charge of releasing TH's cds over here in the US. I've also found the contact info for Universal Music in Canada. The guys are, I think, signed to just plain old Universal Music in Germany. Follow the cut for all of the info.
