I'm waiting for my sister to scan the letter and then I'll edit this entry and post the scan so that you guys can read the text. Long story short, Tokio Hotel is now on Barnes & Nobles' radar and I don't mean someone flunky read my letter, I mean the freakin' Marketing person wrote me back and told me what was going on. My sister read the letter to me over the phone and I was pretty much squealing. It's not totally huge news or anything but it is news. They know about Tokio Hotel, Scream (I think) is available a few B&N stores and they'll be watching those sales very closely. Whatev. The important part is that if I'm guessing correctly about corporate people, they won't be watching only sales of Scream, but they'll also be keeping tabs on Tokio Hotel in general. At the very least, they're familiar with the band's name and music now.
Keep watching this space for a scan of the letter! XD ETA (There is a reason why we asked for Zimmer instead of Scream. In this instance, it wasn't know beforehand that some B&N stores actually are carrying Scream.):

Date: 2007-08-06 11:19 pm (UTC)I just thought I'd let you know that those available "Scream" albums will be at import price! They've been importing them since TH officially released their first CD in the UK, so hopefully by now more than just a few B&Ns have them. Also, at some Target stores you can buy an import of "Scream", too! Isn't that awesome?
Hope you're well!

Date: 2007-08-06 11:45 pm (UTC)lolz I think we emailed/wrote to Target as well. I'm not vain enough to think we had anything to do with the stores carrying Scream now, but it's good to see that they've stocked the cd on their own between the time we mailed (or before and we just didn't see it- quite probable) and now. When then idea for the mailing (to four or so retailers) was born, we searched around and even made in-store visits but couldn't find Scream in any of the physical (not online) chain stores to whom we wrote/emailed. I mean we even walked into these places and made them check their systems. In one case at Borders they used more than one search engine.
At least now the stores can feel justified in purchasing Scream! It's clear that people want the cd so they'll know that their investment is, hopefully, worthwhile. We just want to make things as easy for the band as possible when they get here and the only thing we can really do is make sure they're promoted by everyone and have as big a presence as possible here before their actual arrival.
