lunasol and I really should start planning our Pride parade trip for this Sunday. LOL We have nothing planned out so far, not even how to get there. XD
I say we take Megabus up and then the subway to wherever. It can't be too hard to figure out which subway line to take, right? Famous last words. We'll end up on Staten Island somehow, knowing us.
Okay well currently i've found out that Pridefest goes from 11am to 7pm, and the parade starts at noon. Do you think maybe should aim to be in the city by 10:30, just to have some extra time?
The parade goes from 36th St & 5th Avenue to Christopher & Greenwich Streets, and Pridefest is from Hudson St between Abingdon St and West 14th St. I have no idea what any of this means. Do you think we should get a street map too?
I think 10:30 is a good idea. I'm looking at the route map now for the parade and I figure we should aim for maybe towards the middle or end of the route and find a spot there. So that determines where we get off the subway at. According to the map, Union Square station is kind of in the middle of the route and I know where that station is. Every subway stops at Union Square pretty much, I think. Well, most of them. So it would be easy to get off there without getting too lost. We'd probably need to hop back on the subway to go to Pridefest and get off at Christopher Street. We'll need to see what subway goes to that stop.
I think we should print out the map that they have online that I'm looking at now. It seems pretty handy.
I'm looking at Google maps, and it seems like there a few lines close to the parade route, but 6th Avenue and 14th St are the closest to what may be a performance spot? Idk, on the parade route map there are those like, 4 large white circles, which i can only assume are marking something. The closest station to Pridefest is 8th Avenue, and it seems like the L subway line runs between 6th Avenue and 8th Avenue, so if anything we could take that to get from point A to be point B if we don't wanna walk. And the L also seems to stop at Union Square. So i guess we could do it all on one subway line?
Oh you're right that those circles are probably performance spots. Hadn't occurred to me. lol I don't think I've taken the L before. I take a new line every time I'm in the city, it seems. LOL
I don't think my printer is working at the moment so I don't know if I can print it out or not. I'll buy some more ink for my printer and try tomorrow or something and see if I can get the route to print.
Well i managed to find a subway map app for my ipod, which gave me the idea of saving the PDF of the parade route to my ipod, which worked. So i guess we don't need to print anything out. The app needs wifi to work although it doesn't seem like the map itself should, but i also saved screencaps of the stops and lines we (should) need to my ipod, so either way we should be okay.
