HAPPY TURKEY DAY!
Nov. 27th, 2008 01:12 amTo all my fellow 'muricans, happy turkey day! To everyone else, eat a lot anyway just because. Don't stop eating until you feel like you're about to burst and then promptly fall asleep. If you have energy or room in your stomach after eating, you haven't done it properly.
Also, keep in your thoughts all those who aren't fortunate enough this holiday season to be able to enjoy it like many of us will. If there's a food bank nearby and you have the means, please donate. The food banks are short on donations because of the economy but the number of families in need is higher than ever. Since I have a small paycheck coming in now, I plan to start collecting some items and donating them when I'm able. Canned goods such as soups and vegetables, non-perishable staples like rice, beans, and pasta, and if it's allowed, fresh fruits and vegetables. Apples and oranges keep fairly well. Monetary donations are also useful too. If you have some spare change, donate to the Salvation Army pots instead of walking by them. Or you can hand out Christmas dinners, which I'd like to do this year too.
It's the season of giving y'all. If you have the means, make sure you give but don't let it be just for a month or two. Care and share year round! And remember the Rule of Three. If you give with good intent, it comes back to you in kind.
