And this one isn't selling office supplies. YAY!
It's at a place called Bebashi. (www.bebashi.org) Please check it out!
Bebashi is an organization that provides services to AIDS patients of color in low-income areas. Here are the responsibilities of the position:
-administrative + data entry (Careware- input data regarding clients)
-working with volunteers and students (internships practicums)
-some interaction with clients (applications + food bank)
Seems a decent mix of stuff, opportunities to build skills, and there's room to move up to case management.
Also:
It's full-time, 40 hours a week, 9-5. I'd work some events outside of normal hours, but that's with practically any non-profit job. Best part is that there are health benefits + dental + vision, long/short term disability, life insurance, and paid time off. The salary is around $27K, I believe. I think that's what it said on the listing and I gave my range to him as 24K to 31K and he said it was on above the lower end of that range.
They didn't get many responses to the ad; that improves MY chances. :) The reason he didn't get many responses is because he purposely didn't put the name of the organization in the listing because they're an AIDS organization and I suppose he didn't want to scare people off. I would have put the name in to weed people out because if you're scared of working with AIDS patients, then you're super lame and don't need to be there anyway. :/ I think I either traced the name from the email or emailed and asked so I could check out the web page.
So it sounds like a good job. I'm also hoping to hear back from some that I applied to at Drexel University in the psychology department. One is a Research Technician position working with a study involving anger management and truancy (I think?) in children- lord knows that's a HUGE problem here. I'm pissed at a potentially missed opportunity at...somewhere. Their stupid call-in supplemental question system never worked for me and no one ever returned my calls to the helpline! :( Guess it wasn't meant to be.
Anyway, the interview is Friday at 10AM.
