Why do we do this to ourselves?
Dec. 13th, 2008 03:26 pmThis time we're squeezing about 20 people into my mom's living room for the latest greatest Obama house meeting. Last time it was 11 people in the living room at my apartment. It's not really made for 11 people so it was cozy. We'd capped the number for my mom's place tonight at 15 but a friend of mine just randomly told people to come and didn't tell them to RSVP so they're about 5 or 6 extra people. D:
We've been cleaning all day and making sandwhiches and stuff. My sister, who organized the meeting this time around, invited people to bring food too and we made it BYOC- Bring Your Own Chair- because yeah...we only have like ten seats/stools max. If they don't mind sitting on the floor, that's fine too because we just vaccuumed everything.
If nothing else, our attendees won't leave here hungry. XD
This time, the transition team called the house meetings so we can discuss what policies we want the Obama administration to adopt. I think nationwide there are about 4200 house meetings- twice the number they expected! So it looks like everyone's going to stay involved and I LOVE IT. 3/4 of the people coming tonight are people we've never met before, some of them who voted for Obama but are now just really getting involved. Should be interesting.
