And the mandatory dress code at the summit was pointy hoods and robes.

Can you believe this shit?

Sadly, I can.

This country depresses me.

In more cheerful news, we registered 143 new voters this weekend! We had 120 volunteers from New York and an awesome dedicated bunch of girls from the Smith College Dems in Massachusetts. They got up at 3AM, left at 4AM in a couple of vans, got to Philly around noon, and then canvassed from 1PM to about 6PM. I think they were going to try and canvass a dance on Temple's campus. There were also a few people from Connecticut and some from New Jersey.

And then we had like 10 (maybe) people who were actually from Philly. Pathetic. It's Women For Obama week and I'll be making some phone calls tonight to try to get some people out to canvass their own neighborhoods on Saturday. We're aiming for 50, meaning we need to call like 200 people.

When I woke up, the Dow was down almost 200 points around 11AM. At 12.30PM it was down close to 300. Now, I just checked and it's down well over 400 points at 4PM. I thought it would level out at some point, but it's just steadily dropping.

All of those poor employees that are going to be out of work now. :( Let's see if AIG can bail itself out. I hope so, for the sake of the workers there.

I guess this will trickle down and make groceries even more outrageously expensive than they already are.
