It was ok. Bit of a let down because it was hyped up so much. I was expecting more, I guess. I'm not sure if I'm coming back to City Year next year as planned but I wrote a whole rambling LJ entry about that. New Hampshire is COLD. I had on my bomber and a raincoat at the same time and I was still cold. It was cool to meet and speak to our fellow corps members from South Africa. 20 people from the 200 strong corps flew 19 hours to attend the conference.
I swear, those guys are my age but everything that they say is just so wise and insightful. I guess because of everything that South Africa has been through and they're the youth on the leading edge of stabilizing a democracy that's only 13 years old and helping to equalize the society. Just think, they were all old enough to remember Apartheid before democracy! That'd be like me being alive to remember segregation before the Civil Rights Act was passed. It was really inspiring and I think that's the highlight of the whole trip.
